Breakthrough in logging: “Amkodor-Onego” presents the machines with extended service life
“Amkodor-Onego” has transitioned to serial production of updated harvesters and forwarders since the beginning of 2026. The Karelian Ministry of Industry and Trade explained the changes to the equipment and why the manufacturer promised its increased service life.
Since the beginning of 2026, OOO “Amkodor-Onego” has begun serial production of an updated line of logging equipment.
The main focus of modernization is on increasing productivity and service life of the equipment for work in challenging forestry conditions. This includes the plant flagship products:
- the harvesters, which main task is to carry out all stages of logging, from cutting down a tree to clearing it of branches and sawing it into logs of a given length;
- the forwarders, which are a type of skidders equipped with a cargo compartment and a crane. These machines are designed for collecting, pre-sorting, and transporting timber, usually paired with a harvester.
The improved technical characteristics of the new models have already been tested in real-world conditions. The key criteria noted by the operators include efficiency, reliability, comfort, and safety.
– The launch of serial production of this upgraded line of the equipment is the culmination of many years of work, hundreds of hours of testing, and direct dialogue with forestry companies. We see that Karelian mechanical engineering is capable of turning out products that replace imported equivalents as well as surpass them in a number of parameters in the conditions of operation in the Russian North, – noted Svetlana Astakhova, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Karelia.
