On June 26, the second meeting of the Export Council under the Head of the Republic of Karelia was held, which more than 30 organizations took part in. During the meeting which was held in videoconferencing format the members of the Council adopted the Strategy for development of foreign economic relations of the Republic of Karelia until 2030.
– The strategy was developed to create an effective model of the foreign economic activity of the Republic of Karelia, contributing to implementation of the national interests and development priorities of Russia in the new geoeconomic conditions, taking into account the place and role of Karelia in the country’s economy, its advantages and characteristics, – noted Oleg Ermolaev, the Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia.
In order to develop foreign economic relations, it is planned to carry out measures to attract investments into the republic from the countries friendly to Russia, to conduct reverse business missions to Karelia, and to let the Karelian companies participate in exhibitions and business missions abroad. In 2024, the business missions to Belarus and Uzbekistan are planned.
In addition, the regional Export Support Center plans the companies to travel to foreign exhibitions in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Egypt, as well as to the Russian exhibitions “Armia” (August 12–18), “Necropol” (October 29–31).
The Center carries out a number of other support measures: assistance in entering international electronic platforms, training at the Skolkovo School of Management, co-financing the costs of transporting export goods to the Russian border, preparing companies for participation in international exhibitions (translating product catalogs into foreign languages, creating videos).
The head of the REC representative office in St. Petersburg, Andrei Mironov, informed about measures to support companies at the federal level. One of the most relevant measures is “Export Contract Insurance” (provided by the Export Insurance Agency EXIAR, a part of the REC Group) which protects an exporter from the risks of non-payment from a foreign counterparty under an export contract.
